My neighbors are having a cookout today - its a happy, loud raucous birthday affair with good smells and uproarous laughter - good for them, they're nice folks. I happened to be outside when they started a debate over what was and wasn't a sport, which seemed to be defined by what you'd watch and what you'd change the channel on. At the end of a long list of not-sports that included golf and tennis, one of the guys loudly proclaimed that "beach volleyball is absolutely, definately NOT a sport."
This amused me. I couldn't help but wonder if that meant he voluntarily changed the channel on a pack of bikini-clad women jumping around on the sand or if it mean his wife was sitting across the picnic table from him. I figure it's about 50-50. Of course, beach volleyball may not be much of a sport for the true sports fan, but I doubt it falls under the category of so boring I'd change the channel. Then again, maybe that's just me. After all, I change the channel on basketball which I find tedious and boring.
As
dougansf often says, "Truffle, anyone?"
Sigh.
Fortunately fencing still is a sport, but is never televised. Poo.
(Also: totally have wacky plot stuff to talk to you about must break the universe or at least some PCs/NPCs it'll be sweet eeee!)
